Broom BezzumsTwo lead singers, two born entertainers, two top flight songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, bringing to the stage fiddle, guitars, mandola, Northumbrian pipes and bass drum, topped off with soaring vocal harmonies. With all hands, mouths and feet in action you’d be forgiven for thinking you’re hearing a 5 piece band!

Broom Bezzums strike a keen balance between authentic traditional music and the creative freedom of the current songwriter/Nu-Folk wave, which is winning over droves of younger fans for acoustic music.

Based in Germany, Broom Bezzums have become one of the most prominent bands in the folk scene there and with their new CD ‘Wine From a Mug’ are now even edging into the mainstream, with radio play and interviews on many of the country’s biggest stations. While staying true to their roots, Broom Bezzums are attracting an ever-wider audience.

After appearing at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival 2009, they were asked to embark on their first of two support tours with Show of Hands, whose lead singer Steve Knightley described Broom Bezzums as “just about the best young duo on the circuit”. Award-winning songwriter Jez Lowe has twice borrowed Andrew as an additional fiddler and piper for tours in the UK while both Andrew and Mark make guest appearances on countless CD productions.

Andrew was taught fiddle and pipes by Kathryn Tickell, Mark perfected his guitar skills over years of regular sessions while living in Ireland. Both are well travelled as buskers with the stories, songs and life experience you’d expect of modern day troubadours.

Broom Bezzums, with their impressive musicianship, acclaimed songs, soulful delivery and easy charm, are rapidly become one of Europe’s most sought after live acts.

As a Swiss critic once put it… “Broom Bezzums don’t just play their music – they live it”
