A slight change to our Spikedrivers gig. Maurice (the drummer), was recovering from a serious heart issue so Ben (the lead guitarist), offered to fit us in to his solo tour instead, on the same date. Ben is a highly respected and talented guitarist and singer, as many of you know, and here is some promo material:

USA Born in London but raised in the deep south of the United States, Ben’s musical style reflects these experiences. His guitar playing is an intoxicating mix, combining the raw delta blues of Robert Johnson, the Piedmont style of Reverend Gary Davis and the infectious bounce of Big Bill Broonzy. With this as a foundation he also brings in elements of New Orleans Jazz, Classical music and even drawing inspiration from his time playing rock music. This combined with a soulful voice and commanding stage presence completes the picture of a unique artist. In 1992 Ben formed the Spikedrivers, a project based on his love of early blues, and a vehicle for his songwriting. The band has released 10 CDs featuring many of Ben’s original compositions. Ben is also an accomplished solo performer and always enjoys presenting his music in a ‘no place to hide’ type of setting. With this type of blues being one of my personal favourite musical styles, I'm sure this will be a splendid evening!
