Merry Hell (17 Oct 2026)

Introducing Merry Hell
Merry Hell is an uplifting, eight-piece folk-rock band from the North-West of England, rooted in community, passion, and original songwriting. Formed in 2010, they grew out of the embers of the much-loved folk-punk group The Tansads, reimagining their sound into something fresh, hopeful, and full of energy.

A Band That Means Something
At the heart of Merry Hell are the Kettle brothers — Andrew (vocals), John (guitar), and Bob (mandolin) — joined by John’s wife Virginia on vocals and guitar. With Lee Goulding on keyboards, Simon Swarbrick on fiddle, Colin Foster on bass, and Andy Jones on drums, the band creates a rich, full sound that feels both timeless and modern.

Songs from the Heart
Merry Hell write songs that blend melody, social consciousness, and emotional honesty. Their music is grounded in personal stories and shared experiences — whether they’re singing about love, loss, hope, or the times we live in. Over the years they’ve released several albums — from their debut Blink… and You Miss It to Emergency Lullabies — each one building on that warm, communal spirit.

Why Their Live Show Resonates
Their performances are often described as joyful celebrations — lively, passionate, and inclusive. Whether they’re playing in a full, electric eight-piece setup or a more intimate acoustic formation, their energy stays high and their message remains powerful.
